Robert Crumb

Robert Crumb is an American cartoonist known for his crass and raunchy presence in the underground comic scene. He’s most known for works like Fritz the Cat, the illustrated Book of Genesis, and the ‘Keep On Truckin’’ cartoon. He’s drawn a lot of things. You’ve probably seen his work somewhere. I’ve always been into graphic novels but Robert Crumb and his work is what really got me back into the world of comics and I guess the fact that comics can be anything and could even fit my own grimy and crude tastes. I’m also very into his look in real life. There’s a quote from him that is now apart of my own personal manifesto against graphic t-shirts:
“Everybody walks around - They're walking advertisements. They've got advertisements on their clothes, you know. Go walking around with "Adidas" written across their chest...or, you know, "49ers" on their hat. Jesus. It's pathetic. It's pitiful.”
I put more thought into the things I wear now. Crumb has a similar style to the outfits worn by Peter Weller in Naked Lunch (1991). Just a lot of old brown suits. I dress like that too on occasion. It’s how I feel most comfortable. Crumb is a big inspiration to me in a lot of ways.
